Tourist Visa

Tourists” are individuals who intend to visit Canada temporarily to visit relatives, friends, or Canadian sights. Entry to Canada is a privilege, not a right. If you want to visit Canada, you must meet the necessary requirements and may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

If you don’t need a Temporary Resident Visa, you can go to any port of entry in Canada and inform the Immigration Officer that you plan to visit the country temporarily for sightseeing, business, or visiting family or friends by presenting your passport.

If you need a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada, you will need to apply for it at the Canadian visa office in your country of citizenship or the country where you have been lawfully admitted.

Canadian tourist visas are temporary and cannot be used to obtain permanent immigration. Although extensions are possible, travelers must prove they plan to leave the country once their visa expires.

Most non-Canadian nationals must apply for a Canadian tourist visa in order to visit Canada for a brief length of time. Citizens and permanent residents of a number of countries are able to travel to Canada without a visa for a period of up to six months. The Canadian tourist visa, or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), only allows applicants to stay in Canada for a maximum of six months if they do not qualify for this exception.

In some countries, getting a visa to visit Canada might be difficult. In the majority of countries, especially those with large populations and lots of candidates, the rules change from year to year. You must demonstrate that you will return to your place of permanent residency in order to obtain a visa to Canada, or any other nation, for that matter. Even
